Delicious Doodles 1st Birthday

Hello, it must be a Bank Holiday weekend here as the sun is in hiding!
Although my blog may have been a bit quiet these passed few days I have been making cards and I begin with my entry into Teri's Birthday celebrations over
at Delicious Doodles.  For this card I have used the gorgeous Zebra and so far I havent managed to make a card with this attractive pair in anything other than black & white!  It's funny how certain images demand a certain thing and black & white is just it for this one!  Do you have anything that has it's own rules?
If you haven't seen Teri's images before hop on over and have a peep, she has a variety of images from the natural, like above, to mystical and magical also, I really love her cobweb as it can be resized making it perfect for all of those Halloween cards I've yet to make!

DD2 and her fella and Murphy the chocolate Labrador are coming today so Ive prep'd all of the veg, made the dessert and the chicken is sat waiting to go into the bag prior to roasting; all that's left is for me to get DH up in a little while and lay the table.

Whatever plans you have this holiday weekend I hope you enjoy yourselves!

Chester

Hello, I just wanted to show you Hubby's latest painting.  This is Chester, this is my DD1's working Cocker Spaniel and he is gorgeous.  He's about 14 mths old so he's quite sensible now and is her bestest buddy!
I dont know if it's Blogger or the photo but the colour is much much better IRL and alot of the detail on his coat hasnt come over well either.
Well it must be a family trait but Steve isnt 100% happy with it so has started another 2 but everyone else loves it!
I'll try to load the photos this was painted from so you can see the likeness.

Cody's Balloon

Hello, I hope you've all had a lovely weekend!  Mine was spent making this for a friend of a friend - well sort of!  This is for the lady that asked for the baby girl Christening card that I made earlier this year well she came back and asked me to make a card for her Son's 1st birthday.  Oh I was all a tremble as it is such an important card, I can make cards for everyday occasions but when it comes to special cards I loose all confidence!
Anyway, I gave it a go and here is the box I made to hold it.

This is Cody's Balloon from Mo Manning and is my latest acquisition.  I made a practice card which I will keep to show for another day.  Ive paper pieced him using denim paper scraps stuck onto a full A4 sheet so they went through the printer!

So here is the easel card with the box behind.  Im quite enjoying making boxes at the moment only because the last 3 have gone well (did I ever mention that Ive got millions of little card boxes scattered over my desk to store lots of odds and ends - the ones that didnt fit together!)
I was going to use Glossy Accents on the balloon but as it was quite large I didnt want it to buckle whilst drying.
Hope you have a great week,

Soccer Boy

Here is a card for a little fella, it is Soccer Boy by Mo (link on sidebar) and it's the first time that Ive printed him off.  Ive used FunkyFairys papers, QK football die, Doodlebug rub-ons and I PM'd my grosgrain ribbon to match the red card.  Ive seen big circles appearing on several sketches this month so that has probably influenced this layout.

I would like to enter this card into these challenges:

Ellephantastic Challenges which is to make something for a male.
Stamp Something where they are asking for a digi image to be used.
The ABC Challenge which is blue.

If anyone has any tips about colouring hair, please let me know!  Ive seen the shading variant for long straight hair but boys hair just ends up as a hat!

Stash Card

Morning!  Just wanted to quickly share a card I made to keep for myself for a change!  I've used a topper from a QVC kit that Ive had for over 2yrs and not touched :(  Ive used Pink Petticoat elegance paper for the base and added texture with the script EF.  A few sticky pearls, 2 little QK hearts and a piece of satin ribbon finish it off.

Have got so much to do so hope to catch up with you all over the weekend.
Thanks for calling in and for all of your comments, they really make my day!
Have fun crafting, Keryn x

New Pad

Morning!  I bet the title threw you didn't it!  Yup my last two moving home cards

This used the sweet little Love Birds from Digi Stamp Boutique and Id like to enter this into this week's Sketchy Colours which is 'Black, Pink & White'.  I really love the striking mix of colours, hope you dont need sunglasses to see it!

I'm quite pleased with this one, this is the most important one as it's for DD2 to give to her other half as soon as the mortgage transfers into their names and the place they are in will be theirs - instead of it being owned by her other half and his brother!  She's had her nose in glossy mags and Ikea catalogues making lots of plans as to what will be changed etc etc, she is so excited!  Little does she realise ladies, who really wants to get excited by the thought of a 25year financial commitment!  lol!
Ive used the Giraffe block from Bugaboo - link on sidebar - and I made the card from scratch.  I inked the base and over stamped, then I coloured an off cut of fabric with my PM's to then cut out loads of QK leaf dies.  The little sentiment tag says 'I love you' and has been caught in the sun so doesnt show very well on the photo.
This is the last of the New Home cards!

Anniversary card

Hello crafters, Im trying not to bore you with all of my New Home cards so Ive decided to intersperse them with this instead!
Another fab image from Bugaboo using scraps again.

This is made for my DD2 to give to her BIL2B as he buys his first place alone!  I used Mo's fab image called 'Gamer' and Mike who is moving in is made on his XBox and crisps!
Ive used this weeks sketch over at Friday Sketchers.  It's a fab sketch by Aud this week so why not pop over and join in too!

Thanks for calling in.

Sunny Sunday - whatever next?!

Hello, Im back after having a few days with DH, seemingly we even had conversations!  Something we dont do often enough he thinks due to my crafting addiction!  Oops, will see how much things change over the coming months!
Ive got a number of New Home cards to make and this is the first.  Ive used the cute image from Pollycraft Designs and would like to enter this into their current challenge this week.
This card used DCWV paper, Marianne flower/leaf dies, computer generated sentiment & buttons from stash.

Hope you're all able to enjoy the lovely sunshine today, it's been very absent this week here!

Anniversary

Hello, have I mentioned before that I do love the Bugaboo Stamps?!  Here's another that really tickles my sense of humour so Ive made a card for DH as tomorrow is our 6th anniversary.
Whilst rummaging through my 12" storage file I came across a wad of DCWV papers that shouldn't be there and this one just shouted 'use me'!

So as to redress the balance - a typical Libran trait - please enjoy the inside also!

Apologies it is slightly blurred but it doesnt detract from the sentiment!  I wouldn't want anyone accusing me of 'man bashing' after all!

Funnily enough I can't think of any challenges that this fits into so it's a stand alone card.  That is the perfect thing with crafting, I can make just what I like with only my own time restraints!

Scarlette

Hi, here is a card I have made using Scarlette Scarf from Bugaboo.  Its the first time she's actually made it to card and Ive used up some scraps again, I think I am going to have to clear some of it down before I print any more off!  She's been coloured with my PM's and the silver mirri swirls are by Quickutz and punched blooms.  The buttons were in a tiny little plastic bag, the sort that comes with clothing but I have no idea what item they could be from so hopefully I wont need them anytime soon!

Oh and tiny little gems as buttons on her jacket.

Sketch Saturday

Hello, I'd like to share this card I made yesterday using the great sketch this week over at Sketch Saturday, I really enjoyed using this sketch and will be using it again this week as it made a nice change.  The fab image is Gray and he is a freebie from the very very talented SJ over at SJ's Little Musings.  Each week SJ gives away one of her creations.  She is also celebrating the fact that her images are soon to be in acrylic and will be appearing under the banner of Personal Impressions at craft shops everywhere from next month!  Please do pop over and have a look at her fab work, there is something for everyone there!
This card was made with scraps and Ive used eyelets for the first time in years!  Why did I leave it so long I wonder?!

Oh Boy!

Morning, just wanted to pop on here to share a card made with 'Your my Best' by Mo Manning.  I wanted dark jeans on him so I tried using one of the darkest blue PM's I have, I always find dark colours very hard to colour as the shading is next to impossible.  To overcome this I add detail with the fine nib of a Whispers colouring pen, in fact I added fine detail throughout the image with the co-ordinating pens.
Yesterday I found a fab blog devoted to sketches,Kathy's Waffle Sketch Files.  There are some really fab ones there so please do pop over to see for yourself!

Lastly just wanted to share the gift box I made to go with Steph's card, this gift is a coconut rings necklace!  I didn't even know coconut's had rings!  She loves rustic chunky jewellery so hopefully this will be a winner!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Fluffy Bunny Woyww

Morning!  Im sharing the mess on my desk and it's all Julia's fault!  She started this phenomenon over a year ago and all liked minded crafter's come together to share the mess that is their crafty space!  Well, mine is nearly always in a bit of a state but I prefer it this way, I know where everything is and for the many times that I will change my mind whilst making a card, I have everything to hand!  Perfect!
If you'd like to join in then click on the link on my sidebar for WOYWW!

Ive struggled with this card for about 4 hours, it's just been one of those cards that seems to take ages yet at none of the stages did it look 'ok'!  I think I am fairly happy with it now; Ive used the gorgeous Fluffy Bunny with Flowers from Bee Crafty.  Their challenge this week is 'All about the Image' and Im not too c=sure how to interpret that so I dont think I can enter that!  The papers Ive used are by Funky Hand (link on sidebar) and you can also see my new Marianne Dies, they are lovely and Im really enjoying playing with those at the moment!
Thanks for calling in, I am off now to join in the delight of seeing lots of other desks!

Proud as Punch

Hello, just had to update you, I got a call last night from a very excited daughter as she had been offered a job following her 2 interviews last week.  After her 2nd interview she thought she'd not done very well and didn't expect to get the job so she was stunned last night when they rang her to ask if she would join them!
She will be working in a company that organises trips to Africa and Asia for school groups, gap year students and even families.  The trips, of varying lengths offer voluntary work in schools, orphanages, primate or marine conservation amongst other things and she is so very excited!  I can now rest as she is sorted and looking forward to her new journey.
Thank you to everyone who wished her well in my recent post, especially all of you who are connected to the schooling system yourselves.
I think I was just proud to have my daughter being a secondary school teacher especially as it was something that I just couldn't imagine her doing but this job is far more her and she will get the chance to travel with the groups also at times!

Oh I'd better stop now but Im tickled pink for her!  Well done my lovely!

I'd like to enter this card into Totally Papercrafts challenge #27 'Going to the Movies'.  My movie is Memoirs of a Geisha and I used the beautiful 'little girl in kimono' by Mo Manning, her link is on my sidebar.  Im really not good at colouring fur, anyone got any tips?!  Im also going to enter again into Allsorts Challenge of 'Dressing Up', Ive checked their site and there's nothing about only entering once, hopefully it will be ok!

Sorry for the long post!

Oops

Hello, here's a card Ive made following Donna's sketch over at Dare U 2 Digi Stamp.  Ive loved using the sketch, infact Ive tweaked it and used it for a few cards this weekend.  The lovely little image is Get Well Bear by Bee Crafty and he is perfect for a get well card for any age I think.  Ive used papers from the great Funky Swirls.  Ive stitched all of the layers with chocolate thread, now there's a thought!

Wey hey I can also enter this card into this weeks challenge of gingham over at Die Cut Dreams .  Many thanks Chris, I hadnt reached the entry on my reading list yet!

Before I go, Id just like to say a massive Thank You to my special friend who sent me a really fabulous package of crafting goodies at the weekend.  I swear it was better than having a birthday!  Big, big thanks!
Thanks for dropping in, Keryn x

Penny Black Sunday

Hello, Im having a PB day today and wanting to post some of the cards I've made in the week.  This image was from a swap last year with Jules, Thank You Jules, I really love this image!
I saw a request on blogland for cards to be sent to a crafting lady who's husband has suffered a stroke.  Not that it will make any difference to the situation I posted this off on Thursday in an attempt for her to know that lots of people are thinking of them.  The paper is from the craft magazine freebie and doesnt it photograph well?!  It looks so pretty!

As a result of seeing Jules' beautiful PB bloom  I got myself one from the range and this is it; it's called 'Constellations'.  I like to add a bit of depth to the flower heads with either Glossy Accents or a Sakura gel pen.
I needed to make some blank cards and this was the perfect image.  I've used scraps of pink petticoat from my ever increasing scrap box!

Thanks for visiting today and I hope you enjoy your Sunday!
