Steve's a Grandad!

Hello,

Yeah my hubby joined the ranks of 'Grandparent' on Friday when baby Michael was born!  They live a long way away from us so at this stage we aren't sure when he will be able to see him but there are lots of beautiful photographs to be seen.  As you may know Ive been busy with making lots for Michael and here is the shawl that is now finished, pressed and ready to go!

Here's a couple of the cards I've made for them:

This was a LotV image and scraps of offcuts.

I used an image and papers by Pink Petticoat here.

Im just about to make her an exploding box as this is what she has asked for.

Ive also made another set for the Fish n Chip babies as I needed a break from white wool!

I'd like to enter either of the baby cards in to the following challenges:

Bearly Mine  - Baby Days
Simon Says Stamp - Anything Goes
Creative Inspirations - Anything Goes

Thanks for calling in!

Anything but a card!

Hello,

Can I have a moan please:  I hate the new style blogger.  It is taking me absolutely hours trying to figure out just the basics, it is really putting me off coming on here.  If it doesn't get much better very soon then Im not sure Im going to carry on with my blog as it is just awful.
Sorry about that but thanks for letting me vent!

This time over at our little Christmas Card Club is was the turn of our Clare to chose our fate and she chose 'Anything but a Card', I'm sure I wasn't alone in thinking what on earth am I going to do!  My cherished Silhouette came to my rescue and I made these:

little Xmas favour boxes for the table!  I used some real proper 12" papers too so I am very pleased - some of you may know I can't bring myself to cut into these very often but as it wasn't me cutting it but the Silhouette, I was happy!  If you'd like to see what the rest of the team came up with just click on their names in my sidebar!

Some Fish n Chip jumpers!

Morning!

April showers bring May flowers so they say so we are in for a very full bloom next month!  Here are the first couple of jumpers Ive made to post off to Dawn but as Im midway through another whilst I wait for more white to finish off the edging to the shawl.

Im struggling most with the colours as they need to be dark tones and Im only used to using pale wool for babies knitting hence I watered down the multi coloured wool with white for one of the hats and quite prefer that!  Thankfully each different wool knits up to a different size which is good as all babies are different!  If you think you could knit one of these up then just follow Dawns link above!

New Baby

Hello,

Here's a card Ive made ready for the impending birth of Steve's first Grandbaby next month.  Modern technology is amazing as they know the baby is a boy which makes thing super easy for a cardmaker!

I love this cute image by Cowgirl Up all of the papers are Pink Petticoat in turquoise, I used a couple of spare strips of grosgrain ribbon and a Quickutz sentiment.

Thanks for calling in and enjoy your week!

RMS Titanic

Morning,

RMS Titanic set sail from Southampton on 10th April 1912.

Engineers Memorial in Southampton

Being a born and bred Southampton girl I have seen one of our city's memorials to this grand ship everyday walking to the bus stop after school and although I'd looked it over several times, my youth didn't really help me to appreciate it.  However Southampton has been remembering this event so much over the past months so none of us could have missed the importance that this maritime disaster had on our city.  The city that lost the greater percentage of people was ours with sadly 549 local people going down with the ship.  The last known survivor of the ship died in Southampton in May 2009.

The total capacity of the ship was 2566 and due to a national coal strike in the UK, RMS Titanic set sail with 1317 people on board.  Maybe for once a strike actually did plenty of people a favour?  The strike postponed many people's cruising and it only ended days before the maiden voyage.

The wages of some of the crew on board, in today's equivalents are as follows:  Captain earned £7704 pm compared to a stewardesses earning of £257.  Of the 885 crew members only 23 were female.  The passengers included people from all walks of life and the financier/owner was J P Morgan who cancelled his ticket at the last moment.

RMS Titanic sets sail from Southampton docks 10th April 1912

One hundred years ago tonight this magnificent vessel floundered as she hit a massive iceberg at high speed and sunk resulting in a huge loss of life.

Ive really enjoyed researching this and very much looking forward to going to our new museum called Sea City which has a huge section dedicated totally to the RMS Titanic.
Long may all of those lost rest in peace.

Thanks for your visit,

Black & White Christmas

Morning!

Here are a couple of cards I have made following Margaret's request to see B&W for this fortnights challenge.  I love B&W so I was more than happy with this brief, Thank You Margaret I really enjoyed myself with these although the photography leaves a lot to be desired!

For this one I have used the super sketch over at Sketchy Colours and its the first inking of a stamp I found in my xmas box but without the card telling me who made it.  I think it may have been a freebie in a crafting mag last year!  I wasnt overly fussed with the 'white' card from Papermill on this one so I made another.

This snowman (from Bugaboo) was loitering on my desk with intent following my last card for CCC and I used the offcut of the black and white Twinkles paper from Pink Petticoat from the top card.  A little touch of snowflakes courtesy  of MS and the sparkly paper also a remnant from the above and it was done!  The white is much crisper on this one so I am happy!

If anyone else would like to get a head with their xmas cards this year then why not get in touch, there are 18 of us from all over the world now and its a lovely group of gals who share a bit more than the odd xmas card!

Knitting appeal for Fish n Chip babies

Happy Easter to you all!

Well if there's one thing that will put me off my chocolate today it was this.  I know I have some of the most talented creative crafty girls following this blog so if one of you can help me then it will be more than worth it.

I saw this plea for a basic jumper and beanie hat to be knitted in dark colours (you will not appreciate the need for the dark colours until you read Dawns post but I nearly cried).  I know I like to knit whilst the tv is on in the evening and Id like to plead with anyone who may be able to join me in making either a beanie hat or a jumper or even both - just from your scraps of wool.

Thank you for reading this and even if you cant knit would you please be able to help to spread the word on your blogs so that we can try to help these little Fish and Chip babies.

Thanks

ETA: Thanks Julia, Ive now tested and reposted the link!

Bunny Girl!

Hello,

Ive made both of my girls an Easter card for their fellas.

The image is by Bugaboo, the papers are in the Bloomers set by Pink Petticoat.  I shaded the buttermilk colour of everything with my new Limited Edition of PMs called Daffodil Bloom.  I cut a couple of eggs to give a little extra Easterey goodness as I couldnt get the chocolate to stay on the card!

We are off for a super Greek Mezze meal tomorrow night with my girls and their chaps and we are so looking forward to it as it will be a practice for our Greek trip in September!

Wishing everyone a very Happy Easter!

Red day!

Hello,

The sunny sky is just beginning to be replaced with grey clouds and I think it's the start of the bad stuff coming!  Typical really just as we face a lovely long bank holiday weekend!

This card I made using 2 small images from A Day for Daisies matted and layered with two torn strips of Pink Petticoat papers all finished off with a touch of red stitching and some tiny gems.  Its quite dark but I like it as I think the poppies lift it.

I'd like to enter this into the challenge over at Papertake Weekly which is Anything Goes.

Here is the card I made for Steve for Easter; the image is Bugaboo, I made the multi coloured stripey paper, a small embossed panel and die cut finished it off.  I made the sentiment on the pc.

Have a super week,
Keryn x
