A couple of Valentines

Hello,
Following a busy weekend with lots of time spent crafting Im just sharing a few cards Ive made with St Valentines Day in mind!

I got the idea for this car from a 21st card I made, I'll show that another day!
The papers are by Aimee Asher and Pink Petticoat.

I made a little sentiment strip adding a tiny clipart for the red heart!  I liked how the hearts were layered above and below the sentiment strip.

Although its quite hard to see, the swirl was covered with 'Dazzle' Versamark (what a waste of time!) and clear embossed.  Its made the swirl a little darker coloured.  I overprinted the plain bp with plenty of words for an additional touch, I hope you like them!

Thank You for calling in and hope you have a great week!

Im late with my early Christmas cards!

Hello,
Its a really beautiful day here, lots of bright sunshine and very nippy indeed!  I hope you are all enjoying your weekends, mine's been very crafty and I'm loving it!
At Christmas Clare and I agreed that we would need to commit to making a few xmas cards each month as we were both disappointed with our own personal makes last year and Clare has made a good start!  I am now dragging up the rear with this one!

The stamp is one of 3 that I won on Judy's blog last year and Im affraid to say I dont have any idea who 's it is (if anyone recognises it please let me know so I can give proper credit).  It's a real bargain basement card as the rich red velvet ribbon was only 10p for a reel too!  The two xmas papers are both bargain buys by Crafts House and are pearlised papers, they are so lovely so I took another shot to see if I could show you them better.

I followed a sketch but have been to late to add it to the challenge :(
I'm busy with Valentine cards this weekend and hope to be back to share some soon.
Thanks for calling in!

The Love Blog Award

Hello, what a lovely start to my day I had today when I was tagged by the very lovely Wipso as she had passed me this beautiful award!
Thank You very much for thinking of me Annie!  I love the sentiment behind this award!
Well, rather than being late in posting it and finding Im the last one to get it Im going to get it up here right now!  lol!

There are a couple of conditions for the award

You have been TAGGED and want to participate?
Then create a post where you post the 'LOVE BLOG' image.

You should also blog the persons link that gave you the award and inform her/him that you accept the award.

You can then choose 3 - 5 favourite blogs which you also link in your post, then each blogger will inform you that they have been tagged.

Dear bloggers:

The aim of this action is that we bring unknown, good blogs to light, so I would ask you not to blog fellow bloggers that already have 3,000 followers. As always, the hardest part is to pick who to pass this on to, there are so many bloggers I could give it to but I pick these...

My first recipient is Vickie, we have only just met and she certainly shares the love!  Please pop over to meet Vickie as she has the loveliest of blogs and makes such stunning creations.  She loves the distressing style of a certain Tim Holtz!

The next person I would like to tag is Mary, she is a lady after my own heart in that she loves dogs too and her cards are beautiful also!  In fact her style and mine are very similar I think, please pop over and spread some love!

I am continuing my theme of these bloggers being across the sea to me by tagging Kathie who always has lots of love to spread amongst her family, friends and bloggers.  I think we both share a similar style of crafting too, please pop over to New Zealand courtesy of Blogger and see her latest little beauty, oh, Bugaboo in red, white and black, just perfect!!

Finally, it is not because we are friends that I tag the next person as she always spreads love with whatever she is doing!  Clare is a very warm lady who treats her friends like family and none more so than presently as she supports a very special lady through a very difficult time at the moment.  Please pop over to share some love with the lovely Clare!  Now Clare I am just stating publicly that I love your cards and craft creations (I wont tell you the grief I got last time I nominated her for an award - and talking of which Clare - what have you done with it??!!) her beautiful latest Friendship makes stand testament to that fact!

Right, Im done spreading the love for one day, all that and no man in sight!!  lol!  Have a beautiful day and thank you for reading this!

Pay it Forward

Hi everyone, I hope you had a lovely weekend.

The above cute image was acquired from Claire as I've entered her 'pay it forward' and now it's my turn to pay it forward too.

I promise to send something handmade to the first five people who comment on this post.  But if you enter you must post this too, and offer something handmade to another five people that comment on your blog.

The rules are that it must be something handmade or homemade by you and it has to be sent to five other people during 2011, so we all have plenty of time :D!

If you'd like to join in the fun, then be among the first five to post a comment and something handmade or homemade will be coming your way at some point this year.

I think this a very sweet idea and hope that five of you would like to join me!

Bugaboo Mini Sketch Challenge

Hello,
Im sharing a card I made using the sketch over at Bugaboo, Ive used Stella feeling quite grumpy for a change!!

I imagine Im not the only one who bought 'The Big One' the 12" set of papers by Clare Curd and I am very naughty as Ive only use about 10% of the papers.  This is a sheet from that pad and I've softened the edges of the black and white with soft pink.  The little pink flower button was a brad until I snipped the legs off!
Wishing you a really great weekend!

Dino

Hello,
Back to share a couple of cards Ive made for 2 of my great nephews.  Its the first time that Ive used the Dino image from DigiStamp Boutique which is a shame as I really like them now!

Mason is mad on trains and this is the first time that I havent made a train card so I hope he likes it!
The papers are BG Archaic and Pink Petticoat's 'Kraft'.  I used a bit of the crackle glaze on his spikes but I doubt that it will show.  I made a pleated detail to the side as I find a landscape A5 quite difficult to fill at times.
Id like to enter this card into:
Cooking it up with Katie cute, green & brads

I used up the scraps for this one as it is only a 6" square - my favourite size of card!  I distressed the bp with a chalk ink and he was coloured with PM's.

Id like to enter this into:

Many thanks for your super comments!

Dont forget to laugh!

Hi,

A flying visit today as it's my weekly day out!
I joined in with Bugaboos mini celebrations and this one was to use the little clown, aww she looks so sweet!  Plus, to 'bling' it up, I really struggled with that as bling and clown arent two that I'd normally associate but I have seen other people's interpretation and they look much blingier than mine, oh well!

The word art is by TLC Creations and I'll be back later to add the links - Ive tried 4 times to get the links but for some unknown to me reason, they arent working, sorry.

Thanks for your visit!

Kingfisher perched

Hello,
Here's a card I was asked to make for a friends Mum celebrating her 75th birthday, she asked for a Kingfisher as her Mum just loves them.  This image is an actual photograph by the brother of my sister in law who is a very keen amateur photographer. Ive seen the full set that he took of this bird and one is mid take off and it is truly stunning.

I was looking for a sketch and decided to go for the
Crafts 4 Eternity Sketch Challenge and set about deciding on the papers etc etc - you know what its like!  It took me 4 hours to get it looking half decent having used loads of different combinations of card and paper for each element only to find at the end of it all that Id missed one part of the sketch!  Oh how I hate it when that happens!  Hence, I couldn't enter it!

The photos of the bird are all copyrighted so I have to be careful but here's the bloom I made and the envelope/box that I decorated to match.

I do love the Tim Holtz Flowers die as it makes blooms of a variety of sizes which is perfect when making cards and matching boxes.  The gold strip across the middle is made using a new MS border punch.
Thanks for looking!

If at first....

Hello folks,

Back again and here's a card that will fit in with the current challenge this week at Crafts 4 Eternity !  It's a colour challenge and they are navy, light blue and grey/blue.  Ive used JJ from Bugaboo which also fits in with their mini challenge of blues and white.

The lovely bp is from a Basic Grey pad called 'Boxer', cant say as Steve's got any that look like this!
Catch you soon!

New Shoes!

Hello,
Have you seen the massive blog hop that's happening to celebrate Bugaboo's 1st birthday well its BIG!  Ive made a birthday card for a family member using one of their new Shoe images; Ive had them a while but this is the first time that Ive managed to use any of them.

The papers are Archaic by Basic Grey and are 6" in size as thats my favourite card size.  I also used some scraps including: bronze pearlised card, marbled glossy brown card and some printed 'Kraft' type paper.  Another Tim Holtz bloom but for one layer I chopped into it to make it slimmer so the gold one would still notice beneath it!  A few card candies finished it off - Im getting quite addicted to them - thanks Clare!!

Thanks for calling in,

Pink & Mink

Hello,
Ive just popped on quickly to post a little 6" card that Ive made for one of our great nieces who is soon to be 2!  Ive chosen a soft minky shade with pink and then a creamy/white is the 3rd colour.

Ive used Teris Bunny with Gift from Delicious Doodles as the image is perfect for a little one!  The papers Ive used are Aimee Asher for the pretty pink and minky ones and then Pink Petticoat for the gingham.  A wrap of pink grosgrain, a rubon and a pc sentiment completes it.  Not forgetting the all important number!
Thanks for popping in, catch you soon.

Lovely Award

Hello,  I have been very lucky and received this beautiful award from the very lovely Kathie who lives in New Zealand.  I love the fact that I've got to know such lovely people from parts of the world that I would never have had the chance to meet otherwise.

In true award style I need to formally thank Kathie for passing me this award, many thanks for thinking of me Kathie!  Then I need to list 8 things about myself - oh this is the best bit when it's someone else's blog but the worst bit for me to do!!

1. I met my hubby through the small ads!
2. I love miniature dachshunds but can't really see us being able to afford one.
3. It's my 50th this year :(
4. I love blogging, it keeps me sane!
5. I played the trumpet at junior school.
6. My daughters wedding dress is here although she hasnt set the date yet!
7. I can't wait to be a Nannie.
8. Ive twice seen a ghost!

Apologies if Ive duplicated any of these but as I havent done one of these for a very long time, hopefully no one else will remember anyway!
And now for the best bit, I'd like to forward this onto the following 5 people:

Lisa who's cards are super stylish!
Paula who does the shortest posts on the planet and Im her No.1 Fan and she oozes Style!
Clare Bear who's got the most stylish hair cut which makes me feel so frumpy!
Eileen who makes such beautiful stylish cards and loves her brayer!
Claire who is a super stylish blogger who is celebrating her blogs 1st anniversary too!

Thanks for calling in and I hope you enjoyed your stay! Back tomorrow with a Kingfisher!

Love Words

Hello bloggers!

Im very pleased that Ive got this finished at long last!  This is for my DD2's best friend Zoe who got engaged on xmas morning so it's quite late!  Ive struggled with what card to make as I wasnt sure my daughter liked cutsey images so I was trying to find something suitable, anyway, I digress!
I decided on a word book in the end so used my Funky Hand download to come up with this, I hope she likes it!

I chose reds and burgundy with black.

Not wanting to bore you rigid Ive only shown a couple of the interiors.

Ive now just got the box to make to put it in!

Id just like to say a big hello to my 100th follower Eileen who makes the most beautiful cards!  Her Christmas Bauble card that she posted most recently is absolutely stunning - please go and pay a call, I can assure you of a wonderful visit!  I spent a very long time last night going over her beautiful work and felt really inspired!
I am gobsmacked to have so many wonderful followers, some I know more than others and the comments make the difference between having an 'ok day' to having a Great Day!  Thank You very much!

Pink and Pear Green

Hello,
I am quite surprised by this colour combo as I havent previously been a mad fan on pink but put with a little pear green, courtesy of ProMarkers I really love it!
This is a little card Ive made for an newly engaged couple who did the deed on Christmas morning!  Aww what a lovely way to start the day!

The paper is from one of the card mags which usually sit around with very good intentions but sadly nearly always end up in the bin :(
It must be something to do with the colours then I reckon this time as I grabbed it quite quickly to rustle up this card!
The beautiful little image is by Bee Crafty at http://www.artisangroup.org.uk/page5.htm.
Thank You for your comments and visits it really makes it all worth it!

Anything Goes

Hello,
On the day that vat goes up Im getting a bit fed up of hearing how this is meant to make things better for the country's debt yet the bankers are still raking in million pound salaries.  Im sorry, there is no banker worth one million pound in my opinion.  It's the surgeons and educators of this country along with many many other professions that deserve those kinds of salaries not bankers or footballers.

Anyway, onto today's card, this is made using a freebie acrylic stamp that was free in my craft mag last week.  Im going to enter this into the challenge of 'Anything Goes' over at PaperTake Weekly, just my cup of tea to start the year I think, nothing too difficult to think about!!
Im quite pleased as I didnt print off any papers for this one, it was solely made using papers from my HUGE selection of papers Id already printed/scraps.

Hope you have a great day!

An unusual celebration card!

Hello,

I'd like to share a card I have made for my BIL Pete.  Thank goodness he is making a great recovery but we woke on Christmas morning to find that my sister had been rushed to his bedside at 1am as he wasn't expected to live having been admitted only a few hours before.
Luckily he very slowly pulled through, hour by hour and we are thrilled today to hear that it is expected that he may be well enough to be discharged next week.

It is so true, we really do take so much for granted and this
just proved it. So unexpectedly things can happen that can make a dramatic change to a persons life yet we all think we are immune to it.
Pete wasn't really 'dealt a great hand' as he has a particular disability anyway.
All I feel I want to say about his illness is that it is a very well known illness that plays havoc with the immune system if faced with simple infections so getting Influenza B along with it caused this awful situation.
Well I am thankful that all of my family are enjoying good health and I hope yours are also.

The challenge over at Crazy 4 Challenges is 'Celebrate' and I made this card with that in mind, how very grateful we all are that Pete is progressing well.  I am also entering the card into the present challenge at Sketch & Stash Challenge and the theme is to use any of their previous sketches so I have chosen the popular Sketch No:8.  Also my newest stash part is the image, I bought it especially for Pete so it is it's first outing - along with the lush blue card candy I got for xmas!

Ive used Nurse Stella by Bugaboo, yes, 'Quelle surprise Rodders' as old Dellboy would say!!  I am going to try to use at least one piece of paper from my scrap files for each card I make from here on in!  I wonder how long that will last!!

Sorry for the long post and thanks for all of your lovely comments!

New Year's Day

Morning,

Hope you've all had a great start to 2011.  We had a very quiet night at home with the dogs.  I have a great image of Chester to share with you, it was taken at the end of a busy Christmas Day for him and Im sure you will love it as much as I do!!

Well what a baggy top lip he's got!!

Anyway back to cards, Ive got two family cards to share with you for today, both sharing their birthdays on New Year's Day.  First up is Scarlette by Bugaboo relaxing in her bath!

The paper was a freebie in a card mag last month and I used my new MS PAP punch and a little flourish of baby pink grosgrain ribbon.

Here is little Owen's card:

This used Mo's gorgeous 'Bye Bye' little boy on his new bike and is just 1 of four variations of the image, all equally fab.

Thanks for calling by and have a great day!
